LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Some Lima residents had an opportunity to meet with city officials on Tuesday and have their voices heard.
Walking the Wards, a neighborhood meeting program held by Mayor Sharetta Smith, gave 5th ward residents a chance to discuss neighborhood concerns and learn about city initiatives. Mayor Smith discussed the importance of getting out and talking with residents.
"It is extremely valuable to come out and talk with residents," Smith said. "A lot of times we hear things that we may not know had we not had these conversations, and we're also able to share things with residents that they may not know in terms of city government."
A few dozen 5th ward residents took the opportunity to attend the meeting and share their thoughts.
"They're just a lot more vocal when it comes to community concerns, you can come as a individual citizen, and they'll definitely take time out of the day to address whatever you have to say," said Dakotah Rolfe, 5th ward neighborhood association president.
The 6th ward meeting will be next on August 25th at the Bradfield Community Center.
