"Basically what happens is we look back to a base year; we're looking for, the whole idea behind House Bill 186 is to limit the growth of taxes to inflation," said Hoffman. "If the inflation factor, let's say, is 14.6%, that once the tax bill hits 14.6%, everything else is credited off on the back end."

"It's so important - our financial forecast needs to be accurate so that our boards of education can then effectively run the schools and support the programs that our children need to be educated," said Jennifer Sudhoff, treasurer CFO of Spencerville Schools.

"For right now, the state is going to make those schools whole for this year and for next year, but then House Bill 335 comes into effect," said Gilroy. "We're going to be talking about what they should expect with decreasing inside millage and how we're going to help them estimate those numbers."

Gilroy says her office is available to answer any questions that those in attendance may still have.
