OTTAWA, Ohio (WLIO) - Families in Putnam County getting a close-up with some exotic wildlife on Tuesday.
It was a fun time for the whole family with Mark's Ark in Ottawa as Mark Kohlhorst brought his collection of exotic pets to show. A variety of different animals were shown by Mark, including snakes, a rooster, and baby sea turtles. Kohlhorst gave information about the animals he brought, covering millions of years of wildlife history.
Every kid had an opportunity to pet nearly every animal shown, as Kohlhorst brought the animals right to each child to pet.
"I've been doing this for twenty years, and it's not fun unless it's interactive, so I make sure everybody gets to pet the animals, at least pet the animals," Kohlhorst said. "Sometimes I use volunteers, they get to hold the animals, and it's it's a really interactive process. If it wasn't interactive, I wouldn't do it."
Kohlhorst said that he has held these interactive animal events across the area, including nursing homes and various other venues.
