18-year-old Takal Austin waived his right to a probable cause hearing in Lima Municipal Court Wednesday morning. Now, his case is moving to the Allen County Common Pleas Court. Austin is facing one count of murder, but more could be added if his case is presented to the Allen County Grand Jury. The judge kept his bond at one million dollars.
The Lima Police Department believes that Austin was responsible for the death of 22-year-old Koby Bryant on December 29th. Bryant's body was found with gunshot wounds in the yard of a home on 4th Street. Bryant was the fourth homicide of 2022 for Lima. Austin has a preliminary hearing set for next Tuesday.
The Allen County Grand Jury has charged 18-year-old Khyrese Garner, with murder, aggravated burglary, and robbery charges. There were six teenagers charged with Halpern's death. 18-year-olds, Keion Darden, Jaquan Glenn, and Bryanna Houston have their cases going through Allen County Common Pleas Court. Cases of two other teens under 18 years old are going through Allen County Juvenile Court. All of the defendants are facing murder charges.
The Allen County Grand Jury indicted 18-year-old Bryanna Houston on the charges of murder, aggravated burglary, and robbery. She signed a speedy time waiver to give her lawyers more time to prepare for her trial. A total of six teenagers were charged with the death of 17-year-old Jayden Halpern and all of the defendants are facing murder charges.
According to the Auglaize County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called out to Salem Township at 12:48 a.m. Sunday for a reported shooting. There they found 18-year-old Brandon Fleming with a gunshot wound. The extent of his injuries was not released, but he was transported to Mercy Health-St. Rita for treatment. The shooting is still under investigation, and the sheriff's office is not releasing any other details about the location of where the incident happened or about potential suspects in the shooting at this time.
A Coldwater teen was flown to a Ft. Wayne hospital after a serious two vehicle crash Sunday morning in Mercer County. 18-year-old Grant Ebbing sustained serious injuries in the crash that happened just before 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of SR 219 and Burkettsville-St. Henry Road. Ebbing’s pickup truck was struck by a car driven by 27-year-old Angel Martinez Cruz of St. Henry, when Cruz failed to stop at a stop sign. Cruz and his passenger were taken to Mercer Health with minor injuries. Ebbing was air lifted to Lutheran Hospital. The sheriff's office Crash Reconstruction Team was called into investigate, when the case is complete the information will be forwarded to the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office for review of possible charges.
