May 14, 2024, Press Release from the Department of Public Safety: COLUMBUS — Free hands-on training is available this summer for teen drivers in Ohio to practice crash avoidance techniques and gain the experience necessary to become safer drivers. The Ohio Traffic Safety Office (OTSO) is partnering with three Advanced Driver Training programs to increase access to these specially designed classes that address the leading causes of teen crashes.

The Wheelhouse is a Christian cooperative service that provides refurbished bicycles to adults in need. On Wednesday, local teens in the area had the opportunity to learn from the individuals and volunteers at the Wheelhouse about their work as well as how to make bike repairs on their own.

Youth ages 12 to 17 and their guardians are invited to visit the drop-in center from now through September 23rd for an open house from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Teens will receive a backpack filled with back-to-school items. Guardians just fill out an intake form and complete a five-minute tour of the facility. From this point, area teens are free to visit anytime during the rest of the school year to receive meals, complete homework, and receive the services they provide.
