LIMA, OH (WLIO) - In Lima, the Allen County Youth and Pedestrian Task Force teamed up with the Wheelhouse for an exciting event for teens.
The Wheelhouse is a Christian cooperative service that provides refurbished bicycles to adults in need. On Wednesday, local teens in the area had the opportunity to learn from the individuals and volunteers at the Wheelhouse about their work as well as how to make bike repairs on their own. The organizers of the event hope that those in attendance can walk away with another way they could serve and contribute to their communities.
"The last couple of years, we wanted to find a way to get youth involved and let their voice be heard because part of Allen County Bike and Pedestrian Task Force is making Allen County a safer place to bike and walk, and who walks and bikes a lot? Youth ages 12 to 17, who don't yet have their driver's license," explained Bri Buzard, Allen County Public Health.
