LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - After three days of testimony, an Allen County jury has decided the fate of a man that shot a Lima police officer last fall.
35-year-old Emerson Jeffrey has been found guilty on all charges, except for one count of felonious assault. The jury heard from Lima police officers that were involved in the October 31 incident, including officer Bryce Metz, who was struck by gunfire from Jeffrey.
The incident started as a traffic stop and Jeffrey was in the back seat, and when officers tried to remove from the car, he opened fire and struck Metz. Officers returned fire, striking Jeffrey. He was indicted multiple counts of felonious assault and other gun related charges.
Sentencing has been scheduled for this Monday.
