LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — As the Fourth of July approaches, Lima's 6th Ward councilman is encouraging residents to spruce up their neighborhoods ahead of the holiday.
Councilman Derry Glenn is asking residents in the 6th Ward to mow their lawns before the holiday weekend to help keep the neighborhood looking its best. Glenn said anyone who is unable to mow their grass because of a lack of resources should reach out, and he will work to find volunteers to help.
"We're going to try to make sure by the 4th of July, we got everybody grass cut. That's one of my goals every year. We want everybody to have a nice yard for everyone. So, anyone that needs some help with it, we're going to try to get some people to volunteer to help out with that," said Derry Glenn, Lima's 6th Ward councilman.
Glenn will also begin his 11th annual 6th Ward "Meet the Neighbors Walk" next week, giving residents an opportunity to discuss concerns, share ideas and talk about improvements they would like to see in their neighborhood.
"And you get an opportunity to see me one-on-one and talk with me and let me know what you want to see different in the neighborhood. What kind of help you need in your neighborhood. So, that's some of the things I want to see, that we got to try to get back with the neighborhood, and talk with the people in the neighborhood," added Glenn.
The first three walks are scheduled for:
- July 7, 7-8 p.m.: Greenlawn, Broadway, Atlantic and Elizabeth
- July 8, 7-8 p.m.: Nye, Eureka, Lincoln, State and Lakewood
- July 9, 7-8 p.m.: First through Fifth streets, Cedar, Chestnut, Hope and Nova
Additional neighborhoods will be announced at a later date.
Residents with questions or those seeking assistance with lawn mowing can contact Glenn at 419-905-9572.
