A two-alarm fire severely damaged a Lima home early Friday morning. Just before 2:30 a.m., the Lima Fire Department was called to 716 South Judkins Avenue. The fire was seen coming from the front of the home and garage. Shawnee Township Fire Department was called for mutual aid.

A Lima family is lucky to be unharmed after a Jeep plowed into their living room late Monday morning. Just before 11:30 a.m., Frank Cage and his family felt their house shake as a Jeep Grand Cherokee was in their living room. Cage says he and his wife had just left the room minutes before the vehicle came crashing through. According to officials on the scene, eyewitnesses say the jeep was traveling south on Blackburn Street when it continued across Elm Street into the Cage's yard and then into the home, taking out the picture window and wall.

A good pair of socks can go a long way to helping local teens this winter. The Safy Youth Drop-in Center is collecting new pairs of socks so they can be passed out to local teens. During the cold winter months, they saw that a lot of teens are not always wearing good warm socks. So last year, they started their socks drive as a small way to help local teens.

The City of Lima is announcing that 100 block of South Baxter will be closed for three days, beginning on Monday, September 16th, 2024. Access to W. Market Street shall be maintained by converting the south half of the block to two-way traffic during the closure. See the notice for more information.

If you were driving on North Cable Road on Monday, you may have noticed an old Lima stomping ground coming down. Harry's Hideaway was a popular night spot for years but closed a couple of years ago. In 2022, the University of Northwestern Ohio Development Corporation purchased the building for $600,000.
