The City of Lima is looking at buying some property in Downtown Lima, and they will get an update on another multi-million dollar project
Lima City Council will be voting to purchase the VFW Post 1275 in the 100 block of East Elm Street. The city is expected to pay no more than $600,000 for the building and the adjacent parking lot. The property also sits just north of the Riverfront One building that the city also owns and is using a Brownfield Grant from the State of Ohio to run tests on the property to see if it is environmentally sound for redevelopment. One of the grants is for prevention of childhood obesity, and if Lima gets it, they are looking to create a youth bike program. The Public Works Department will also be giving an update on the Aquatics Center. The over $11.5 million complex is being built next to Spartan Stadium and could open late in the summer of 2025. Lima City Council will begin at 7pm Monday night in Council Chambers.
