Allen County residents gathered in prayer Thursday, lifting their voices in a show of hope and unity during the local observance of the National Day of Prayer.

"It says in the Bible that when the righteous are in power, the people rejoice, when the evil are in power, the people groan," said Theresa Lee, a coordinator for the event. "There are a lot of times that we need prayer. Prayer for our counties, for our states, for our nation, everyone needs it. For our schools, for our children. We've seen answered prayer in America, and we are going to continue to see it because God answers prayer."
