Community leaders, pastors, and more gathered on Thursday for observance of the National Day of Prayer.
Held at the Howard Johnson's Grand Ball Room on Roschman Avenue in Lima, the event brought together many to unify in prayer. Scriptures, songs, and more were shared during the event. Organizers say that the event is now more important than ever in order to help a community come together to unify under a peaceful message.
"It says in the Bible that when the righteous are in power, the people rejoice, when the evil are in power, the people groan," said Theresa Lee, a coordinator for the event. "There are a lot of times that we need prayer. Prayer for our counties, for our states, for our nation, everyone, for our schools, for our children. We've seen answered prayer in America, and we are going to continue to see it because God answers prayer."
County leaders such as the Allen County Commissioners and the Lima chief of police were also in attendance.
