LIMA — Shawnee controlled the rematch on Friday night, pulling away from Lima Central Catholic for a 70-55 boys basketball win at LCC.
The matchup marked the second meeting of the season between the two programs after Lima Central Catholic took the opener 67-58 in the Tip Off Classic at Elida. This time, Shawnee flipped the result behind a balanced offensive effort and consistent pressure throughout the game.
Luke Marshall set the tone early for the Indians and finished with a game-high 21 points. Beckett Bertke added 20 points, scoring in a variety of ways, while Trevick Bertke contributed on both ends, including a transition dunk that helped extend Shawnee’s lead in the second quarter.
Lima Central Catholic stayed within striking distance behind Brady Parker’s attacking drives and Jordan Priddy’s 14-point performance, but Shawnee maintained control and kept the Thunderbirds from mounting a late run.
With the win, Shawnee improves to 6-2 on the season, while Lima Central Catholic drops to 5-4.
