Van Wert County was hit with a significant wind storm on Wednesday afternoon, according to Van Wert County Emergency Management Director Rick McCoy. A storm system that was predicted by the National Weather Service several days ago produced tornadoes across Illinois  and damaging winds across the Hoosier and Buckeye States.

U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) joined the list of politicians traveling to Celina to take in the scope of the damage. Celina Police Chief Thomas Wale took the senator to the residential areas that got hit the worst during Monday's tornado. Brown, who visited Trotwood on Wednesday, said the scene was one of the worst he's seen in Ohio but what really stood out to him was the resiliency of the community.

Three days after a tornado shocked a residential area of northwest Celina, families are finding their new normal as they move from clearing debris to taking the next steps in regards to their homes. Mayor Jeff Hazel says the progress made in just a couple of days is a testament to the spirit of the Celina community.
