JENERA, OH (WLIO) - Residents in southern Hancock County are picking up the pieces after Thursday's tornadoes.
Family, friends, and community members are helping Jenera residents repair damage and clear the debris left behind by the EF1 tornado. This tornado started in Mt. Cory and traveled just over three miles to end in Jenera, a small community east of Bluffton.
There were no injuries, but homes, barns, vehicles, and farm equipment took varying amounts of damage, from minor to severe. One resident explained that there are no sirens near them, but his family saw the storm coming.
"The next thing you know is that he seen a piece of metal, apparently from the neighbor's, swirling in the field behind the house, and that's when him and my wife decided to get to the basement. About the time they hit the basement door, down the steps, is when the window in his bedroom basically blew in. It got hit by a piece of slate," said James Miles, a homeowner in the neighborhood that was struck. "My son's truck behind me got hit by; there are four grain bins that were across the road that were in my yard, so that damaged my son's truck and my daughter's car."
Crews repaired downed power lines in the area and had power restored by Friday afternoon.
