Construction at the Lima Municipal Building has created some changes for offices and entry points. To enter the building, you will need to go to the far door on the east side of the building. This is normally the back entrance, but for the next three months, it will be the main entrance. There will be someone there to help you get to the tax department and 3rd-floor offices.
They are talking trash. Yes, literally trash and how it is not being properly placed in the city receptacles for pick up. The utilities department has been getting dozens of complaints from residents and city council members about trash that is blowing around streets and neighborhoods. They want to remind people that the receptacle is to be placed by the curb with the wheels facing the house for trucks to pick up and empty it properly. If it’s not facing wheels to the house, lids will be broken and trash not in bags will blow out.
The office on North Central Avenue has been closed as part of the city's COVID protocol. It will open following certain rules such as masks to be worn and temperatures taken before you enter. The Utilities Department has not shut off anyone’s services during this period, but as of July 10th, that directive ends. There are 1,000 overdue accounts and those will be addressed with some options.
The City of Lima is warning people higher-than-normal rainfall is causing a spike in water backups for some. The Utilities Department has received several phone calls from people that have water in their basements. The department says many of these calls are due to surface level intrusion because of all the rain in our area lately. They are recommending that anyone having issues check catch basins in the area to make sure they aren't being blocked. However, if anyone is unsure of what's causing their issues, the city will check out the problem for them.
City of Lima utility customers are noticing something new in the mail.
