Despite the cold, these Lima residents marched in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The over-decade-long tradition held by Lima 6th Ward Councilman Derry Glenn brings everyone together to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. King. They gathered in prayer, sang songs, and shared something they are thankful for that came from his teachings. Despite the below-freezing temperatures, they walked from Reese and Holmes Avenues to the park named specifically for him.

Many people and community groups walked the streets of Lima to raise awareness for an important cause. October is "Domestic Violence Awareness Month," and on Tuesday, Crossroads Crisis Center kicked off their month-long campaign to raise awareness their "We Walk for Victims" to honor all survivors and victims of domestic violence. Before the walk inside the Lima Public Library, Lima Mayor Sharetta Smith signed a proclamation recognizing the city's support for domestic violence awareness along with Crossroads dedicating two books to the library. Tuesday night's walk is the first of many events planned by Crossroads to honor victims and survivors all month long.

Registration is underway for one of the region's spookiest races. The Lima Kiwanis is hosting its annual Howl'oween Trick or Trot 5K and Mile Fun Run and Walk. It starts and finishes on the west side of Faurot Park, winding through Woodlawn Cemetery. The event proceeds go toward the Kiwanis student clubs that are building future leaders.
