McCOMB, OH (WLIO) – Grady Schroeder is a three-sport athlete in basketball, baseball, and football. On top of his athletic talents, the Panther senior is first in his class with a perfect 4.0 GPA.

"He wants to see the team always succeed. He has a commitment to McComb as a school and towards athletics to being the best that it could possibly be," said McComb boys basketball head coach Glenn Miehls.

Grady Schroeder is always doing his best whenever he steps on the field of play. From basketball, football, and in baseball, the McComb senior has his family to thank for that.

"It just means so much to have all the love and support from the community and the school, and it just means so much to be able to go out and play these games in front of the communities that my parents, my uncles did and just continue to do what they did," said Grady Schroeder.

"I believe really strongly in students participating in a lot of sports, especially at small schools. And I also expect them to do really well in the classroom, and Grady fits that role really well," said Coach Miehls.

And speaking of the classroom, Grady is ranked first in his grade with a perfect 4.0 GPA.

"Grady is a devoted student. He puts the time and effort into his coursework. Whatever it is that he's working on, he's very devoted. He puts the time into it necessary to get the grades that he desires, and if he's not meeting his own expectations, he'll work even harder at it," said McComb math teacher Toni Hassan.

Once Grady graduates from McComb, he will attend the Ohio State University to major in aerospace engineering.

"Cause simply planes are cool. I love watching planes. It's amazing how you can put something in the air like that. So, it's something I admire and it's something I want to do and try to accomplish," said Schroeder.

And the biggest lesson for Grady Schroeder? It's seeing firsthand how far a little support can go a long way, especially in a community like McComb.

"I'm just going to take away how much support can do for somebody. My family, the school, all the coaches, I wouldn't be here without any of them. So just showing support to other people and that it can do a lot for them," said Schroeder.
