LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Bugs, dinosaurs, puffins, and more piqued the interest of some Lima City School students this week.
The Lima Junior Service League distributed books to all the 1st and 2nd graders in the Lima City Schools. The students get to browse through the books and pick one they like. They then put their name in the book, and they get to take it home. The Junior Service League has done this project for many years to promote the excitement of reading for these youngsters.
"I did today, that I woke up and ate some breakfast, and went to school. And I picked out a Fox book because they are awesome living creatures," commented Zoey Van Meter, who was excited.
"I picked out a dinosaur book and I wait for my turn. They're my favorite," responded Ayden Walton, who chose a dinosaur book.
"The joy of them having something of their own and it being as simple as a book is pretty heartwarming," stated Kelly Martino, Lima Junior Service League.
The Junior Service League needs members and encourages people to join them in promoting children's literacy and the well-being of women and children in the region.
