LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Activate Allen County and several other agencies are looking for 10 area schools to take on the challenge... the challenge of health!
They are offering 10 school districts up to $2,500 to improve the physical and mental health of their students. It's an initiative to promote healthy lifestyle choices by the students that will hopefully follow them throughout their lives. Previous school challenge projects included healthier lunch options, sensory rooms, and new playground equipment. Organizers are looking forward to what ideas will be submitted this year.
"So we've seen a lot of great applications and projects built off of this. We're really excited to see the great ideas, the ingenuity, and creativeness that the schools come up with because they always have great ideas and are always coming up with something really new and exciting," stated Josh Unterbrink, Activate Allen County.
Any school in Allen, Auglaize, or Putnam Counties can apply for the health challenge dollars, even if they have received them in a previous year. To find the application go to Activate Allen County, visit https://activateallencounty.com/healthy-schools/.
