Allen Co. Fairgrounds gets new maintenance building thanks to state funding and donation from Lima Eagles

ALLEN COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - Just in time for next month, the Allen County Fairgrounds is seeing significant improvements with the addition of a brand-new maintenance building.

Thanks to funding from the state facilitated by Matt Huffman and Bob Cupp, along with a donation from the Lima Eagles, the fairgrounds now feature a new 2,400-square-foot building. This facility will not only provide much-needed storage space but will also free up other areas of the fairgrounds for events throughout the year.

"It's extremely important for a multitude of reasons. We're starting to run out of space on the fairgrounds to store material like benches, picnic tables, stuff that only really gets used during the fair. With that space being eaten up, it doesn't allow us to rent those spaces out to events that want to use them the other 350 odd days of the year," explained Troy Elwer, promotions and operations manager of the Allen County Fair.

"We keep 99.5% of our charitable donations right here in Allen County, so we're proud of that. When he approached me about this building project, we were excited to get on board with it and help the fair out," said Ron Morris, president of the Lima Eagles #370.

This addition is a significant upgrade for the Allen County Fairgrounds, enhancing its ability to serve the community year-round.
