LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - While an exciting weekend is on the way with the super bowl, it is still important to pay attention on the roads.

The fatal crash report of 2025 highlighted 13 fatal crashes as well as over 3 thousand non-fatal crashes. Out of the 13 crashes, 15 people died. With these fatal occurrences, all 13 were scattered across Allen County, and mainly happening between the months of July through October.

Statistics show that only 4 out of the 13 crashes happened at night, and 9 out of the 15 who died were not wearing safety belts. It is important to pay attention on the roads, as these crashes could have been prevented.

"You know, if you don't feel right, you can't drive right and we are going to be proactively enforcing laws and looking for impaired drivers, as well as distracted driving. Make sure you put your phones away. That's a big cause of crashes in and around the area," says Sgt. Anthony Kuhn of Ohio State Highway Patrol, Lima.

With crash predictions rising for the super bowl weekend, it is important to wear your seatbelt, drive sober, and follow safety precautions. Have fun this weekend but have a plan if you decide to drink. Any questions, concerns, public comments, or a request of data can be requested on their website.
