Can it be the light at the end of the tunnel? Local health officials are hoping so.
The Allen County Health Commissioner announced Wednesday that county COVID numbers have dropped. Just as fast as we spiked with the OMICRON variant cases, we are now declining in the number of cases being reported. Unfortunately, there are still COVID-related deaths being reported. It was just a week or so ago when we were seeing 300-plus cases per day and now we are around 20 cases being reported daily.
Brandon Fischer, Allen County Health Commissioner says, “It is looking better than what it was a while ago. Our hope is that this is the light at the end of the tunnel. We are keeping our eye out for any potential additional variants or any or any additional versions of COVID-19 that could cause infection and spikes in cases throughout our community. But as of right now, we are not seeing any of that yet in the area.”
Fischer says to stay vigilant with the use of masks, handwashing, and vaccinations to not let the virus get an upper hand on us again.
