LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Motorcyclists kicked off Christmas giving with an annual event that brings presents and smiles to local children. ABATE Ohio held its 40th Annual Toy Run, with nearly 250 motorcycles crisscrossing local roads to raise money for holiday gifts.
Donations from riders, along with proceeds from raffles and auctions during the event, will be used for ABATE's annual Christmas toy giveaway for families struggling to afford presents. Volunteers will go shopping in the coming weeks to fill the wish lists of children in need. Organizers expressed gratitude for the continued support of their mission and the growth of the event over the last four decades.

“Our first one, we made a about $1,000 the first year, and it's growed ever since. And now we're making like, 18 to $19,000 so it's gonna spread that all out between the six counties that we have. We're helping quite a few people. Puts a smile on my face and warmth in the heart," said Dana Frost, ABATE Toy Run.
ABATE Region 3 supports many organizations. Last year alone, they provided gifts to 160 children at WOCAP just in time for Christmas.
