LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – The City of Lima is once again receiving national recognition for its financial reporting and budgeting practices. Two city offices have earned three prestigious awards for their hard work and commitment to transparency.
The Lima Finance Department received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the first time, marking a significant milestone in the city’s financial planning efforts. Additionally, the City Auditor’s Office earned the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting and the Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting.
“So what it represents is the creation of a budget book. It's something that we have never done before, but it's a budget document that's easy to read, easy for the citizens to understand,” said Meredith Foster, City of Lima Finance Director. “It encompasses the budget, the purpose for the budget, what our main priorities are, the strategic plan.”
City Auditor Randy Bartels emphasized the importance of the recognition.
“Both of those awards speak to the dedication and the intensity with which the city prepares their finance reports, as well as manages finances in general,” Bartels said.
All of the award-winning financial documents are available to the public on the City of Lima’s website.
