LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — The City of Lima is expanding its “Walking the Wards” initiative to strengthen connections between residents and city leadership.

After several years of success bringing residents together with Mayor Sharetta Smith and city officials, the city’s Department of Housing and Neighborhoods is introducing monthly, ward-based meetings designed to encourage deeper conversations and provide updates on community improvements.

City officials say the new format will allow for more direct engagement and better follow-up on resident concerns.

“More engaging conversation with city leadership, and so we’re able to get their thoughts and concerns and be able to maintain, keep up with them and really show them the improvements that have taken place and those that are coming,” said Marcell King, neighborhood specialist for the City of Lima.

The first meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 28, in Ward 2 at the Fraternal Order of Police Lima Lodge 11, located at 750 W. Robb Ave., beginning at 5 p.m.

Ward meetings will be held on the last Tuesday of each month through October. Residents can visit the city’s website for a full schedule of future ward locations and dates.
