LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Quality Mechanical Services gave some tips on how to keep your house cool over the next couple of days.

With extreme heat warnings in multiple areas in Northwest Ohio, keeping safe and cool inside is a number one priority for the coming season.

QMS owner Anthony Schuh advised people to limit foot traffic in your house over the summer, and to pull your drapes and curtains down to keep cool air in the house.

He added that opening your windows at night can lead to humidity entering, resulting in more discomfort.

"A lot of people will go and keep their AC unit on during the day and then at night they would like to turn it off, and open the windows," Schuh said. "That just allows the humidity and these extreme temps to come into your home. Then when you turn it on the next day, it'll actually run a lot longer and harder."

Turning off your AC can lead to a higher energy bill, as letting humidity inside will result in it running longer than it needs to.

Schuh said that letting your AC continue to run overnight can chase that humidity out, keeping your house cool and your bills low.
