LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Put your betting caps on! LCC held its annual "Night at the Races" fundraiser on Saturday night, where attendees 21 and older placed bets on old 1970s horse racing films.
All proceeds from the betting and 50/50 raffle support the high school's athletic and band programs, helping to pay for equipment and facility maintenance. Having hosted the event for more than 20 years, organizers say they love seeing familiar faces as well as some new ones.
"It's a great event. It's great to see the older folks who have been here from day one, as well as the new faces. A lot of our coaches work the event, so it's a great way for our coaches and our staff to interact with our community members, not just Lima Central Catholic communities, but the whole Lima area's here supporting, and we're extremely grateful for all that," said Liam Stolly, LCC's athletic director.
They plan to continue the tradition next year and hope to see you there.
