LIMA, OHIO (WLIO) — The Lima Symphony Orchestra provided a unique cultural experience Saturday morning with its Mornings with Maestro event at the Lima Public Library.
Ohio Northern University professor Dr. Sarah Waters helped bring the Chinese musicians to the area for a series of events showcasing several percussion, woodwind, and string instruments traditionally used in the Peking Opera Orchestra.
Lima Symphony Orchestra Music Director Andrew Crust uses Mornings with Maestro to educate children about music and instruments. Following the performance, children could try playing some of the instruments and experience how they differ from those they are more familiar with.
The musicians will visit various schools to perform and introduce students to the instruments. They will also present a free concert at 1:30 pm. Tuesday in Presser Hall on the campus of Ohio Northern University. The concert is open to the public.
