LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Murphy Tractor & Equipment has broken ground on a new multimillion-dollar dealership on Commerce Parkway, marking a major expansion of the company’s Lima operations.

The company has operated from its current location on St. Johns Road for nearly 25 years. As one of North America's largest construction equipment dealers, Murphy Tractor officials said they have been planning an expansion of their local operations for approximately five years.

Company leaders say the new facility will provide additional space and upgraded equipment that will improve efficiency and better serve customers.

"Well, in addition to the space, the service department will have a 10 ton overhead crane in it that we don't have access to today.  So, it'll make us more efficient, safer. We'll just have a more a larger wash bay to clean up machines when they come in. We'll have more room for parts. We'll be able to stock more parts on location," said Bill Buckles, president of Murphy Tractor & Equipment.

The project is one of several developments underway in Lima's industrial corridor. Just down the street, construction continues on the future site of an Ohio Logistics speculative building. The Findlay-based company broke ground in April on the facility, which is intended to attract a manufacturing tenant.

The project is one of several developments underway in Lima's industrial corridor.

Local economic development officials say access to Interstate 75 continues to be a major selling point for companies considering investments in the area.

"A lot of our prospects are coming to us and they're paying very close attention to Lima and our I-75 access. Plus, all the road improvement projects we're doing is attracting projects. And next year, in 2027, will be a year of grand openings and it'll be another exciting year," said Cindy Leis, president and CEO of the Allen Economic Development Group.

The new Murphy Tractor & Equipment dealership is expected to open in about a year.
