LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - The Lima Meijer store giving a big boost to the Lima Allen County Toys for Tots program.
The store making its annual donation to help make the holidays bright for area children. Their $3,000 donation allowed Salvation Army and Toys for Tots representatives shop for needed items that will go under the tree this Christmas. Store officials say that it's important for them to give back to their community.
"The company here at Meijer, they're just fantastic; we're family owned, and we have that core value of we want to be in the communities we serve," said Andrea Pickens, Lima Meijer store director. "We want to help our customers, and one of the things we do is we provide these donations so that we can help our community members."
"We can come and purchase toys that we know we're going to need, so the things that aren't coming in, this is our time to go purchase those items," said Paul Downing with Allen County Toys for Tots.
There is still time to donate to the Toys for Tots as boxes will remain out at area locations through this weekend.
