LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — For everyone trying to beat the heat this week, the Lima Public Library and Allen County Museum offer shelter, AC and an opportunity to learn something new.

Cooling centers, or public facilities that provide air conditioning are vital during extreme temperatures. Both the museum and the library are designated as safe places to go to get out of the heat. Both locations also provide great resources to entertain and educate guests while they escape the high temperatures.

Lima Public Library, Allen County Museum welcome visitors seeking relief from the heat

"The advantage of coming here is that you can actually learn something about your past and the history. You can have some activities that you can do with your family in the Children's Discovery Center. You know, there's just a lot of different things you can experience, and there's usually something for everyone here," said Executive Director of the Allen County Museum Christine Fowler Shearer.

"We are open to the public. We encourage them to come in, use our AC as a cooling spot, use our computers, you know, dust off a book while you're here, try out one of our programs. But we are more than open to the public to come in and cool off," said Liz Smith, head of public relations for the Lima Public Library.

The library is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and the museum is open from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
