LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — For decades, children in Lima have been learning about safety in a unique "city within the city." Now, the Lima Noon Optimist Safety City is inviting former graduates to return and see how things have changed.

The organization will host an open house reunion at its campus, encouraging all past participants to visit and explore the many improvements made over the years. Changes include upgrades to the classroom as well as enhancements to the signature structures that define Safety City.

“The open house is free to the public. Just come out, take a look at the place, see how it’s changed,” said Safety City Officer Eric Mericle. “Check out the Survive Alive house, see the classroom—it’s changed quite a bit. The grounds and buildings have evolved over the years. Safety City has been here for almost 50 years. We’ll have businesses there along the streets of Safety City, passing things out, with some goodies to enjoy. So just come out and enjoy the day.”
