The organization will host an open house reunion at its campus, encouraging all past participants to visit and explore the many improvements made over the years. Changes include upgrades to the classroom as well as enhancements to the signature structures that define Safety City.
The radKIDS program is a 13-week safety training that travels to various schools in Lima. Today's focus was dog safety featuring the Lima Police Department's newest K-9 named Roscoe. Students learned how K-9s track down suspects, find narcotics, and how they protect officers. The program teaches kids important lessons on self-defense and how to identify tricks child abductors may use.
Thousands of kids have gone through the programming at Safety City but there are still people out there that have never heard of it. Safety Officer Eric Mericle is inviting the public out to take the grand tour and see what all has changed over the years.
The Shawnee School District Superintendent Jude Meyers was the guest speaker at the February meeting for the Optimists. Meyers spoke on a wide range of topics concerning the school. One topic was the current condition of the school's facilities, with a review board set to submit a review to the school district.
