Members from Shawnee Optimist were able to learn more about their local school district.
The Shawnee School District Superintendent Jude Meyers was the guest speaker at the February meeting for the Optimists. Meyers spoke on a wide range of topics concerning the school.
One topic was the current condition of the school's facilities, with a review board set to submit a review to the school district.
"We're going to get a report back from the facilities commission, and based on their report, it will give us an idea of what their recommendation is going to be," said Meyer. "Based on that recommendation we will put community groups together and then make a plan available to our community... whether it be a new high school, whether it be a new middle school, whether it be something comprehensive."
