LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — An Ohio lawyer and national news contributor is encouraging Allen County Republicans to turn out to vote in the upcoming election.
Mahek Cooke served as the guest speaker at the group’s monthly luncheon, where she addressed several issues facing the state, including health care, the economy and education. Cooke said Ohio ranks low nationally in those areas and also raised concerns about increasing fraud across the state, including within the childcare industry.
She described the current election cycle as one of the most important in recent years, emphasizing the need for voter participation. Cooke also told attendees that Democrats are targeting offices currently held by Republicans and encouraged those in attendance to make their voices heard at the ballot box.
“Most of these races come down to one thing. It's against Donald Trump, and we have an opportunity to make sure, at least in the state of Ohio, that we not only stay conservative, but we start focusing on the things that matter, school choice, affordability, which is extremely high right now in terms of how do we have families and children and our senior citizens actually taken care of,” says Mahek Cooke, Political consultant and news contributor.
Cooke urged members of the Allen County GOP not to be complacent and encouraged them to bring others with them to vote on May 5.
