LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – While the federal government shutdown has officially ended, some local agencies remain cautious as they await funding.
The West Ohio Community Action Partnership (WO-CAP), which relies on a November 1st grant to operate, has not yet received its funds. Administrators say they have enough money to cover short-term operations and remain optimistic that classes will continue as scheduled.
Phyllis Montrose, Child Development Resource Director for Head Start, said, "We're still not sure exactly what's going to happen, because we are a November one grant. So as soon as our grant goes through that process, and then they release the funds, we know that we will be fully operational, but at this point, you know we're going to continue it with business as usual."
Montrose said the combined Head Start programs serve approximately 375 children in the area.
