ALLEN COUNTY, Ohio (WLIO) – A petition for the annexation of approximately 10 acres of land adjacent to the City of Delphos has been filed with the Allen County Commissioners.
The property owners submitted the request on Monday, July 7. On Thursday, commissioners accepted the petition and set a date for a public hearing.
This is not the first attempt to annex the land. An expedited annexation request was brought before Delphos City Council in May, drawing significant public interest. While the city supported the move, Marion Township Trustees opposed the expedited portion of the request. As a result, the property owners are now pursuing a standard annexation process, which requires a public hearing.

Speedway is reportedly interested in the site, located near Old Lincoln Highway and Lehman Road, to build a grab-and-go station.
“There will be evidence presented. The county commissioners will be sitting in, hearing that, and a decision would be made after the evidence is presented,” said Allen County Commissioner Brian Winegardner.
The public hearing is scheduled for Thursday, September 18 at 11 a.m. It will take place at the commissioners' office in the first-floor conference room at 204 North Main Street.
