LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Friday’s strong winds caused widespread power outages across the region.

There were many reports of trees falling on power lines, knocking out electricity for several blocks. AEP Ohio reported thousands of customers without power across several counties in the area.

There were many reports of trees falling on power lines, knocking out electricity for several blocks.

 

Power outages by county as of 5:30 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2026:

Allen County: 6,559 out (13.5%)
Putnam County: 3,843 out (23.4%)
Van Wert County: 2,560 out (18.6%)
Hardin County: 1,577 out (11.9%)
Hancock County: 2,716 out (7.2%)
Auglaize County: 1,065 out (14.2%)

Law enforcement say if you don’t have to be anywhere, it’s best to stay home through the evening.

AEP Ohio also reminds residents that if you see a downed power line, stay as far away as possible from it, or anything it may be touching.
