LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — A pair of West Central Ohio standouts were recognized by the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League this week as Flag City pitcher Jackson Urenovitch and Grand Lake outfielder Matthew Aldridge earned weekly honors.
Urenovitch was named the GLSCL Pitcher of the Week after picking up two victories out of the bullpen during a 5-1 week for the Sluggers.
The right-hander made two relief appearances, totaling seven scoreless innings while striking out eight batters and issuing just one walk.
Meanwhile, Aldridge earned GLSCL Player of the Week honors for the second time in the last three weeks.
The Grand Lake standout batted .500, going 12-for-24 over six games as the Mariners posted a perfect 6-0 record. During that stretch, Aldridge recorded two home runs, eight RBIs, 12 runs scored and three stolen bases.
Urenovitch and Aldridge continue to be key contributors for their clubs as they were recognized with this week's GLSCL honors.
