LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Lima City Schools Superintendent Andre Rudolph is inviting residents to take a closer look at the district’s finances during an upcoming community dialogue.
Rudolph, along with Lima City Schools Treasurer Heather Sharp, will host the public meeting next Wednesday at Lima Senior High School. The event is designed to provide information about the district’s current financial situation and future outlook while encouraging community involvement.
Rudolph said engaging the public is a key priority as the district navigates financial challenges.
“The community has voiced strong opinion and strong support of our schools, and so we want to make sure that they are at the table and included in the decision making processes. And so the first part of that is just making sure everybody is fully aware of what we're up against, and I don't know that everybody is is fully aware of that at the moment. So this provides an opportunity and avenue to get people fully caught up,” said Rudolph.
District leaders say some of the major issues impacting school finances include an ongoing school voucher lawsuit, a disproportionate school funding formula, and significant cuts at both the state and federal levels for public education.
The community dialogue will take place Wednesday, April 8, at Lima Senior High School beginning at 6 p.m. The public is encouraged to attend.
