Area entrepreneurs compete for up to $10,500 of funding to use in business development at Pitchfest

LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Area entrepreneurs compete at Pitchfest to obtain funding as they start or grow their local businesses.

The competition is hosted by the Ohio Small Business Development Center at Rhodes State College, the Walter C. Potts Entrepreneur Center, and the Lima Area Chamber Foundation, where up to $10,500 of funds will be awarded to the winning candidates. Entrepreneurs present their product or service to a panel of judges, and they are evaluated on how well their business plan will produce financial success in today's economy and job market. The organizers of Pitchfest hold this event to promote an avenue where small businesses can help thrive the local economy.

"Small businesses are the economic engines of our communities, and this is available to anybody in northwest Ohio. Anytime a business is opened or expanded, it impacts our economy, and these small businesses provide jobs. It's a great networking opportunity, and they are already presented in front of the judges which are the sponsors of the event, so we have area banking institutions that have come together, and they've already made those relations," says Nicole Scott, District Director, Ohio Small Business Development Center at Rhodes State College.
