The Jegna Corporation continues work to revitalize a residential house on Lima's south end into a community resource. Part of the Ujima House Project, the property located at 1307 St. John's Avenue is currently being transformed into the MBK Community Outreach House for several different programs. A garden will also be constructed where fresh fruits and vegetables will be grown. Leaders with the project say this opportunity will help give residents a place to grow and build new skills.

Ohio is giving shoppers a longer tax break when families are thinking about back-to-school shopping. The sales tax holiday will run from Tuesday, July 30th, to Thursday, August 8th. The sales tax holiday has been going on for years in the state, but last year the General Assembly extended it from three days to 10 days to help people keep a few dollars in their pockets. It includes purchases in person and online up to $500.

Area entrepreneurs compete at Pitchfest to obtain funding as they start or grow their local businesses. The competition is hosted by the Ohio Small Business Development Center at Rhodes State College, the Walter C. Potts Entrepreneur Center, and the Lima Area Chamber Foundation where up to $10,500 of funds will be awarded to the winning candidates. Entrepreneurs present their product or service to a panel of judges, and they are evaluated on how well their business plan will produce financial success in today's economy and job market. Organizers of Pitchfest hold this event to promote an avenue where small businesses can help thrive the local economy.

A Wapakoneta Girl Scout just made a tremendous purchase for the Auglaize County Sheriff's Office that will benefit the entire county! Emma Hunley with Troop 2063 raised $50,000 and purchased a brand new pickup truck for the Auglaize County Sheriff's Office DARE program. She pursued this project to complete her Girl Scout Gold Award which is the highest award in Girl Scouts and equivalent to the Eagle Scout. When Emma heard the Auglaize County Sheriff's Office budget would be reduced due to decreases of tax revenue from the pandemic, she knew she had to help, and with her dream becoming a reality, Emma hopes she inspires other girls that they can do anything.

He could have quit, but instead, he persevered and is sharing his story with others. He is known as "Jimmy Fadez," a master barber from Columbus, and he was at Apollo Career Center speaking with their spa and cosmetology students. In 2022, Fadez was doing a weighted squat when his spine snapped. He was left paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair. But that didn't stop him.
