February 20, 2025, Press Release from the Ohio Department of Transportation District 7: SIDNEY (Thursday, February 20, 2025) - The Ohio Department of Transportation District 7 is seeking public comments regarding the following projects:  

Simon-Kenton Trail Improvements, PID 119469 – The Champaign County Engineer proposes to implement safety upgrades at six trail crossings.  The project is intended to improve safety for trail users.  The project is expected to begin in Summer 2025.

Mad River Trail Phase 1, PID 109432 - The Clark County Park District proposes to construct a multi-use path along a former rail bed between Old Mill Road and US 68, to improve access to the Mad River Gorge & Nature Preserve.  In general, the trail will offer an 11-foot paved width with 2-foot shoulders.  The project will extend from Old Mill Road to a turnaround and resting/staging area near US 68, for a total length of approximately 1.3-mile.  The project will also include construction of a 4-vehicle parking area off Old Mill Road.  Construction is expected to begin in Spring 2027.

Broadway Street Improvements, PID 119367 – The Village of Covington proposes to reconstruct a segment of Broadway Street, from east of the Stillwater River to just east of North High Street.  The project is necessary to address the deterioration of the existing roadway and additional substandard conditions within the corridor.  Under the project, Covington will reconstruct the roadway with new striping, curb, gutter, ADA curb ramps, storm drainage system, signage, and sidewalk replacements.  The project is expected to begin Spring 2028.

Main Street Pedestrian Improvements, PID 119822 – The City of Clayton proposes to construct new sidewalk, curb, gutter, storm sewer, and ADA-compliant curb ramps along Main Street/State Route 48, from Heathcliff Road to the existing sidewalk, just southeast of Hillgrove Avenue.  Under the project, the city will also reconstruct the existing traffic signal at the intersection of Main Street and Garber Road.  The project is expected to begin in August 2026 and require up to 12 months to construct.

East Third Enhancements, PID 119397 – The City of Dayton proposes to improve pedestrian and bicycle access on East Third Street from Keowee Street to Linden Avenue.  The project will include a new two-way cycle traffic, new pedestrian crossings, and related pedestrian improvements.  To allow for the cycle track, the roadway will be reduced from a five-lane cross-section to a three-lane cross-section.  Construction is expected to begin in June 2026.

Far Hills Ave Lighting Improvements, PID 121633 – The City of Kettering proposes to replace existing street lighting with a new energy-efficient lighting system along Far Hills Avenue, between Stroop Road and Dorothy Lane.  The project is expected to begin Spring 2027.

Founders Pedestrian Improvements, PID 121631 - The City of Kettering proposes to install sidewalk along the east side of Founders Drive, from Research Boulevard to the existing sidewalk on Founders Boulevard.  The project is intended to improve pedestrian access in this area.  Construction is expected to begin in Spring/Summer 2027.

Great Miami Recreation Trail Improvements CR22B, PID 119379 - The Miami Conservancy District (MCD) proposes to reconstruct approximately 1.4 miles of the Great Miami River Recreational Trail between East River Road and Stewart Street in the cities of Dayton and Moraine.  Improvements under the project will include new curb, trail amenities, designated parking, and a mid-block crossing to Carillon Park.  The project is expected to begin in early 2027 and require up to 6 months to construct.

Keowee Street Improvements, PID 120094 - The City of Dayton proposes to implement safety improvements on Keowee Street, from Fifth Street to Monument Avenue.  The project will include a multi-use path on both sides of the roadway, tree plantings, and signal upgrades.  To allow for the multi-use path and promote traffic calming, Keowee Street will be reduced from seven travel lanes to five travel lanes.  The project is expected to begin in Summer 2026.  

Miamisburg-Springboro Pike at Benner Road Intersection Improvements, PID 119569 - The Montgomery County Transportation Improvement District, in cooperation with the City of Miamisburg, Miami Township, and the Montgomery County Engineer’s Office, proposes to improve the intersection of Miamisburg-Springboro Pike and Benner Road.  The current preferred alternative is a modern roundabout.  The project is intended to improve safety and reduce congestion.  Construction is expected to begin in Spring 2026.

I-75 Interstate Widening, PID 113579 – ODOT proposes to widen Interstate 75 from three lanes in each direction to four lanes in each direction, from (approximately) the Pennyroyal Lane Bridge in Warren County to (approximately) the Lyons Road Bridge in Montgomery County.  The project will include full reconstruction of the existing travel lanes.  The project is necessary to address deteriorated pavement conditions and congestion.  Construction is expected to begin in Spring 2027 and require approximately three years.
