The City of Lima is wanting to remind property owners that they are responsible for removing snow and ice from their sidewalks after a snow event.
Sidewalks are the only way some people have to get around the city and they can’t do that if they are covered with snow and ice. The city will be out monitoring and enforcing the ordinance concerning snow removal on sidewalks.
Lima’s Community Development Director Susan Crotty adds, “We try to be understanding of the situation, but our code does require that within 4-hours of daylight after the snow has fallen that the snow and ice be removed from the sidewalks.”
The penalty for non-compliance is $350 but can be reduced to $50 if you do comply after a citation.
