Lima, OH (WLIO) - After taking two years off because of the pandemic, residents of the Lima Towers got to have a Thanksgiving meal together. The last time that Councilman Derry Glenn held a Thanksgiving dinner at the towers was 2019 and he was glad that he was able to bring back the tradition. People were able eat a classic turkey dinner with all of the staples, but more importantly they are able to spend some time together to celebrate the holiday.
“Well, it is very exciting when you see the residents here excited about a meal,” says Glenn. “We are all family here. So, some of the people don’t have a family, so I come to them and make them part of my family. I am excited about the organizations that came out, NABCJ, the National Association of Blacks in Criminal Justice is here. All the volunteers are here to help us out, it excites me so much to have a Thanksgiving meal with them.”
Besides the dinner, the residents also learned about how Emerge Services could help them with their social security benefits. This is the 11th time that Glenn has held his Thanksgiving dinner at the Lima Towers.
