The temperatures are dropping, and people need a place to stay warm. These cold months can be hard for those who don't have a consistent place to keep warm and out of the harsh conditions. The local soup kitchen, Our Daily Bread, will have their regular hours throughout the cold stretch upon us. They are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and offer coffee and hot meals to anyone who enters. They also have winter clothing items if you need something to stay warm.

Hundreds of people gathered in Wapakoneta for an annual Christmas dinner. The 29th Miracle Meal Christmas Dinner was served Monday night inside the Auglaize County Junior Fair Building with around 350 people coming together for a meal. A Christmas present was also given to every child from birth to 18-years old along with a local pastor delivering the message of Christmas. There was also plenty of Christmas caroling and even raffle drawings throughout the evening. The meal is free for everyone and gives all a chance to enjoy a moment this Christmas season without the financial stress.

Lima City Councilman Derry Glenn provided people with warm Thanksgiving meals for the 17th year. Lima Towers residents and others who attended were served a free Thanksgiving dinner. They also held a raffle to give people the chance to win prizes. Glenn says the smiles he sees is what makes this event so good, and everyone involved is always eager for this time of year to come again.

But Beth Czerwony, RD, a registered dietitian for Cleveland Clinic, said there are many ways to naturally boost your energy, including not skipping breakfast. Sticking to balanced meals with lean proteins and complex carbs can give you energy over a longer period of time since it takes your body more time to digest them. For example, packing a grilled chicken sandwich on wheat bread for lunch is better than packing a peanut butter and jelly sandwich on white bread.

 Chef Abdul Jaad of Abdul's 5 Star Catering started the idea to give back to the community in the summer, when he wanted to do a movie night, but unfortunately couldn’t raise enough money to do it.  So, he and his wife came up with he idea of doing a free meal for people who needed something on the holiday.  Fresh and faded let them use their space, and 419 Drywall Repair helped with the water to pass out with the meal.  Jaad felt it was important to offer this meal to others, because what happened in his life.
