People were welcomed to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1275 on Elm Street to enjoy a free meal of turkey, ham, sides, dessert, and the company of others. This is the 18th year the dinner has been held, and the goal is to make sure that people who may not have the means to prepare a holiday dinner or anyone to have the meal with have somewhere to go where they can feel the spirit of Christmas. Last year a couple of hundred people came to eat and enjoy the sense of community.

"We always like to see a lot of smiles, and everybody always seems to be very uplifted and very happy to be here again. It's always great to be around people and to be around people in your community, to know 'hey you know what, I'm not the only one here' and feel like they're loved and feel like they're important," said Tanner Calvelage, one of the volunteers at the dinner.

The dinner is kept free by the donations of individuals and businesses, and the volunteers who work hard to make it all possible every year.
