As the school year quickly approaches, one city councilman and a Lima business owner have joined together to help get kids prepared.
Sixth Ward City Councilman Derry Glenn, and Fresh N Faded owner Leandre Johnson held a press conference to encourage people to donate supplies for the 11th annual Back 2 School Supply Block Party. They're asking for backpacks, school supplies, and uniforms. The items can be dropped off at Fresh N Faded (227 S Main St, Lima, OH 45804) between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Sunday. All donations will be handed out to the kids during their annual block party.
"Our goal is to make sure every kid gets back to school on time. That means they have all the education supplies. School supplies, uniforms, book bags, we making sure every kid got that," said Derry Glenn, Lima Sixth Ward Councilman.
The block party will be held on August 11, 2019, and there will music, entertainment, and food. This year they hope to give supplies to 2,000 kids.
