ELIDA, Ohio (WLIO) - Elida hosted their annual art exhibit to show off the hard work of students.
Artwork of all ages was on display at the Elida art show. Sorted by types of art like sculptures and magazine work, each artist was able to bring their family to show off their finished project. Students worked all year for this show and were ready to bring their pieces for the community to see. Organizers not only say that art is important to these students, but art can benefit other areas in their life.
"An average student, if they've taken four years of visual art, they will score over a hundred points higher on their SAT. We are teaching socio-economic learning, we're teaching empathy and problem solving, and we're having our students come out career and college ready," says Hollie Albright, High School Art Teacher at the Elida School District.
The art show showed how students are able to build skills outside of their core classes and use them long after graduation.
